Non Discrimination Policy

Heart of Gold complies with the provisions of the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and all requirements imposed pursuant thereto to the end that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, religious creed, or disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits of, or otherwise be subject to discrimination in the provision of any care or service.

1. No person shall be denied admission to the program or denied any service on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, handicap or disability or sexual orientation.
2. No preference will be given when assigning staff members to consumers on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, handicap or disability or sexual orientation.
3. No consumer shall be asked about care giver preferences service on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, handicap or disability or sexual orientation.
4. No favoritism will be shown in regards to employee promotions service on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, handicap or disability or sexual orientation.
5. No consumer shall be denied utilization of any component of the program service on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, handicap or disability or sexual orientation.
6. No applicant shall be denied employment solely on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, religion, handicap or disability or sexual orientation.
7. Reasonable accommodations will be made for employees with disabilities.

Heart of Gold shall show evidence of compliance with the non-discrimination policy in the following ways:
Provide a copy of the non-discrimination policy within the admissions policy.
Maintain a copy of a signed and dated notification to employees of Heart of Gold’s non-discrimination policy.
Evidence that Heart of Gold’s nondiscrimination practices have been publicized in the community at least every three years by one of the following methods: newspapers, television, radio, brochure or yellow pages.
Inform employees of their right to file a complaint if they believe they have been treated in a discriminatory manner by their supervisor or any person employed by Heart of Gold Home Care, LLC by posting reminders or this right prominently in the public locations throughout the office and by including this policy in the employee handbook.

Copies of Heart of Gold’s non-discrimination policy shall be posted in locations accessible to the agency’s staff and the general public.

Heart of Gold shall provide the Department of Health with a signed and dated copy of the non-discrimination policy within 30 days of the effective date of any change in the policy.

Policy: Any employee or client of Heart of Gold Home Care, LLC who feels he or she has been treated in a discriminatory manner may file a complaint to their supervisor regarding said incident. Clients and employees will be notified of their right to file a complaint in the following ways:

Inform employees of their right to file a complaint of discriminatory treatment in the employee handbook and in prominent postings in public areas of the office.
Inform clients of their right to file a complaint of discriminatory treatment by informing them of such right in the admissions packet provided to all new clients.
