I imagine the answer to the question, what’s the most dangerous day to drive a cab in any large city would be the same answer.

I’m a former New York City cabby and when I began life as a cabby, I asked an old-timer what the most dangerous day of the year was to drive a cab? I was thinking the answer would be New Year’s or any celebratory day that was likely to include the drinking of booze.

In fact, when the old timer answered my question, it took a second or two for me to realize he was right.
He said, “Halloween. If anyone wants to get in your cab with some kind of mask, tell them to take their masks off. If the don’t, don’t pick them up.”

Street crime is no joke. Violent crime is cruelty. When the old timer told me this, I realized he had to be right because it made all the sense in the world, someone in a Halloween costume? And this is why there is humor.
After I learned about Halloween I realized how it would sound if I said, “I was robbed by Batman and Robin, the Lone Ranger! Zorro!”

After humor, there is reality.

I never drove my cab on Halloween.
