David and I met at our first jobs out of college working for a community-based rehabilitation program for adults with traumatic brain injuries.  It was apparent back then that we both had the same interest in helping people achieve their goals of independence and we knew someday we would team up to bring our passion to our own business.  Heart of Gold Home Care was a seed planted back in 1990 and has now grown to be the premier home care business in Northeast Pennsylvania.

I have worked with people with a wide variety of special needs over the past 30 years.  After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Education, I began in Pennsylvania in 1990 by working with adults who had sustained traumatic brain injuries (TBI) as a recreation specialist then as an educator and case manager.  In Minnesota, I assisted adults with various disabilities in several programs including The Courage Center in Minneapolis as a vocational specialist and case coordinator.  After returning to Pennsylvania, I again specialized in assisting adults with TBI and their families.  As Director of Vocational Services and the case coordinator for several clients, I was responsible for maximizing each client’s independence in the home, in the community, and in the workplace.  I am proud to have developed and implemented vocational programming, policies and procedures, and staff training programs.  However, my true love was the daily interactions with the clients.  Helping people is my passion and it is the ultimate goal of Heart of Gold.
